Martin Mull, renowned for his dry wit and eclectic talents that spanned comedy, acting, music, and painting, passed away at his home in Los Angeles, as confirmed by his daughter Maggie Mull on Friday. His death follows a courageous battle with a prolonged illness.

Born in Chicago and raised in Ohio and Connecticut, Mull's career flourished after gaining attention with a recurring role on Norman Lear's satirical series "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman," which led to his starring role in the spinoff "Fernwood Tonight." Known for his distinctive blonde hair and neatly trimmed mustache, Mull became a fixture in Hollywood's vibrant 1970s scene, blending music and comedy in performances at iconic venues like the Roxy on the Sunset Strip.

His versatility shone through various roles, from playing the slightly sleazy characters in films like "Mr. Mom" and "Clue" to co-creating and starring in the acclaimed mockumentary "A History of White People in America."
